Periskop DJ set podcasted by Second Wave

Periskop Second Wave podcast

Yet another Periskop DJ set has been podcasted. This time as the 15th episode of the Dutch podcast Second Wave. It is curated by a techno event organization of the same name operating out the southern Netherlands, who also made the podcast artwork.

The main bulk of the set consists of slow dark atmospheric techno with a contemporary sound. Many of the tracks have been selected because they work at a much lower tempo than they were produced. Unlike previous sets like the one for Tripalium, only a handful +10 year old tracks were included, and none from the 90s. The tracklist (scroll down) also features a Periskop track from the recently released North EP.

As with the recent Periskop set for Inveins, I have made a rather long bleak dark ambient intro. Not just to build up anticipation but also to get the listener down to a certain level of mood and calmness. For those who prefer a purely ambient DJ set that stays in that depressive/pessimistic state, the Periskop set for Awareness from 2015 and the Sunday Night Wrongness mix from 2003 are also online.

Periskop DJ set on the Inveins podcast

Periskop Inveins Artwork by Horty Shooter

Another Periskop DJ set has been podcasted. This time as the 16th episode on Inveins. It is a 1 hour mix of deep techno and dense atmospheres from 1996-2016 with emphasis on darker sounds and immersive aspects from drones and repetitive beats. I tried to use tracks from the entire period, but the majority of tracks that fitted together turned out to be from the late 90s and the last few years. The set also features a track from the recent Periskop – North EP. Scroll down to see the track list.

Inveins is an Italian podcast started in July 2015, but has already released 16 episodes – many of them worth a listen. The podcast artwork was selected by Inveins and made by photographic artist Horty Shooter.
